Privacy notice and terms of use

This page explains what Cluecraft Limited does with personal data, and the terms on which you use this website. It is written to be read, not to be impenetrable.

Privacy notice

Who we are

Cluecraft Limited is the data controller for the personal data described here. We are registered in England and Wales, company number 17416677. Our registered office is 82a James Carter Road, Mildenhall, Bury St. Edmunds, IP28 7DE.

What we collect

Only what you choose to send us. If you complete the contact form on this site, we receive:

• your name
• your organisation, if you provide it
• your email address
• whatever you write in the message field

Our hosting provider also keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses, as a normal part of running a website securely.

What we do not collect

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

We use what you send us to reply to your enquiry and, if it goes further, to discuss and deliver work for your organisation. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: you have contacted us about our services and it is reasonable for us to respond. If we later want to send you anything you did not ask for, we will seek your consent first.

Who else sees it

We keep the number of parties involved deliberately small. Personal data may be handled by:

• Formspree, which processes submissions from the contact form and passes them to us
• Netlify, which hosts this website

Both act as processors on our behalf. Both are based in the United States, so submitting the form involves a transfer of your data outside the UK, made under the safeguards those providers have in place. We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it for marketing.

For transparency: this site loads its code libraries from a public content delivery network (unpkg.com). Your browser contacts that network directly to fetch them, so it will see your IP address. That is a normal part of how the web works, and we receive nothing from it.

How long we keep it

Enquiries are kept while we are in conversation with you and for up to 24 months afterwards, so we can pick up a thread if you come back to us. After that they are deleted. Where an enquiry becomes a client relationship, records are kept for as long as the law requires for business and tax purposes.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask us for a copy of your personal data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable form. To exercise any of these, email us at hello@cluecraft.co.uk, use the form on the site, or write to us at the registered office above. We will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, though we would appreciate the chance to put things right first.

Changes

If this notice changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it.

This website is provided for information about Cluecraft's services. You are welcome to read it, share it and quote from it with attribution.

Accuracy

We take care to keep the site accurate and current, but we do not warrant that it is free from error or that it will always be available. Nothing here is a contractual offer, and nothing here constitutes legal, compliance or professional advice. Scenarios described in the example investigations are illustrative and fictional.

Intellectual property

The content, design, wording and artwork on this site belong to Cluecraft Limited unless stated otherwise. The logos of the professional bodies shown in the recognition section belong to those organisations and appear to identify them, not to imply endorsement of this website.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
